Tubingen... he's kinda hard to keep up on, especially for a guy like me, who is pretty much a dullard and not real interested in speculation.

Anyway, he was a German soldier, captured at the end of WWII and saw his buddies breaking down in the POW camp. The YMCA came through with Bibles and he started reading it and got saved. After his discharge, he began studying with Karl Barth and was pretty much neo-orthodox. However, he parted with Barth and ended up with Wolfhart Pannenberg... got more Evangelical (I think).

Cut to the chase... he became professor of Systematic Theology and developed a "theology of hope." It's his unique view, but it would look, smell and sound a lot like post-millennialism... sort of a "realized eschatology" in which Christ is reigning and things are lookin' up. So, he is naturally pretty ecumenical.

Now, as to why he gets highlighted on the quiz, I have no clue except that his theology books were hugely popular in the '90s and you can find them all over in used bookstores... my guess is that your average liberal arts type was exposed to him and thought he was a good marker. If you answered questions on the quizz in any sort of a preterist fashion, I suppose that triggered the Moltmannian thing.

There, now was that confusing enough :-)

Bo
PietyHill PressUdarnikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13014389397899721732noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9313009.post-1141005479382245532006-02-26T19:57:00.000-06:002006-02-26T19:57:00.000-06:00That, or you can get along with just about everybo...That, or you can get along with just about everybody. I suppose it was the preterist leaning answers I gave that tipped the QuizFarm dial towards the "optimistic" zone, but that's definitely not my outlook. I'm a confirmed futurist and not banking on a golden age... I just happen to think it was normal for God to come in judgment in the past, as well as in the present and the big one coming down the pike. Decidedly amoltmannian.

Oh, and have a nice day :-)Udarnikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13014389397899721732noreply@blogger.com
