Pray for my church

They've got some self-taught, out-of-practice, no-talent hack guy to play drums in the worship services today.

In stark contrast with the usual drummer, who is none of those things. Except he is a guy.

Drums? In church?

I'm sure you will do just fine Dan. :)

I would like an MP3 file made available so I may be able to hear this drummer.

I had to take our regular drummer out of the service today.

She was getting distracting, bashing her head aginst the back of her chair when we weren't singing, too.

what rick said.

Next your going to tell me you had someone on an electric guitar and sang a song written after 1900.

I'm sure you can find a suitable replacement from GUTS church. The truth comes out, you were here in T-town as part of a "search committee", weren't you??? :-)

How offended should I be that you assume the drummer was me?

It went okay. No injuries nor drum-related apostasies were reported.

I thought having drums in church was an apostasy. Or even a sign of the apocolypse. Certainly at a minimum "emergent", which is just the same as heretical.

Dan, were you seated in the isolated plexiglass box?

DJP said...

Yes.

DJP said...

PS -- just to get a step ahead here, the drums aren't mine. No talk of burning, please.

The heart of rock n' roll is the beat.

You play drums! Another thing to add to the list of why Dan Phillips is the man. Great name, passionate about sound doctrine and biblical Christianity, 24 fan, drummer, clever with words...I'm expecting you to say that you speak in tongues any day now

You can add that one to the list of "Things That Aren't Going To Happen."

Some how, some way, I think the church will survive this latest and most ferocious attack on Christianity.

I knew there was something about you the reminded me of Ginger Baker ... maybe it's the eyes ...

Too bad they weren't "loud, clashing cymbals," then you would've been okay Scripturally.

Reading this thread, all I can think is this: Praise the Lord for Bible-believing Christians who have a sense of humour!
