At what point does sticking with a denomination become making an idol out of that denomination?
I hear you. Difficult question. I've asked a friend who's a Biblically conservative UMC pastor, and his response isn't very satisfactory to me: he'll leave when the Lord tells him to. But, that's another man's servant.
Some situations, you get to serve independently within a corrupt denomination and be a witness to it; some are more independently structured. But I've just always felt like your presence IN it is a visible vote FOR it, AND all it stands for.
That one's pretty hard for me to shrug off.
If I'm reading this correctly, and since I've only had one cup of coffee that should be taken into consideration, this goes beyond the homosexual ordination. From what I am reading even heterosexuals that are living together would be considered for the various offices in ministry. So this isn't just endorsing sodomy its endorsing all sexual sin as being not a rejecting factor regarding entry into ministry with the PCUSA.
Hmmm..
I wonder what the goddess Sophia thinks about this.
My understanding is that there are good churches that are still trying to reform the PCUSSR, but the split of the PCA from the PCUSSR has been like, what, 30 years or more? I think it's time for many of the good people and churches in that denomination to completely abandon them.
