"Luck or skill?"

Try watching this un-slack-jawed. A number of people here narrowly evaded their time to die...

Yeah. Slack jaw. Lots of loud exclamations and nervous laughter.

This also reminds me that we won't go until God says we go. When my aunt was in her 60's, and in ICU unable to speak, looking for all the world to be on death's door, she recovered. When my older sister became ill with what everyone thought was flu, it turned out to be a rare, but fatal condition. She passed away in just a few days, at age 39.

Not to be a theological nit picker, but no man can "narrowly evade his time to die." It is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment. Or something like that.

Watching this reminded me of Edwards in Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God.

The observation from the words that I would now insist upon is this. -- "There is nothing that keeps wicked men at any one moment out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God." -- By the mere pleasure of God, I mean his sovereign pleasure, his arbitrary will, restrained by no obligation, hindered by no manner of difficulty, any more than if nothing else but God's mere will had in the least degree, or in any respect whatsoever, any hand in the preservation of wicked men one moment...

The unseen, unthought-of ways and means of persons going suddenly out of the world are innumerable and inconceivable.

I don't think Dan would argue that point, Fred, but there were some very close calls.

Did you see the sentence under the picture, Mr. Fred?

I couldn't tell: what happened on the tennis one (the second bit)?

I can't make it out, either. Bad quality.

Is the bank robbery one real? Seems like it should be a movie clip.

Also, note to self, if attending a rally event don't stand on the outside of the corner!!

The bank robbers got away!!!! That's upsetting....

I've had a few close calls in my own life. The majority of those times (two or three) had to do with a reckless vehicle {usually a white van!) that 1) decided to run the red light while I was in the middle of an intersection that had a steady green light; or 2) wanted to be the road hog and crash into my lane (and me) while overlapping with my car at about 1/3 to 1/2 of a car length. Each narrow escape was from the Lord. Praise be to Him who cared (cares) for me (and my mom, who was in one of those near-death experiences with me)!

{usually a white van!)

Uh huh. See?

(Nods emphatically)

No.

A thousand pardons for doubting your Calvinism.

Honestly and not joking, Fred, the thought that people who care about me watch me to be sure I'm staying on-course is a very good thought.

So thank you.

I just wondering where on earth the giant Cadbury cream egg came from.

Perhaps, Dan, you can shed some light on this: What's up with white vans anyway?? Why them??

Mike:

The bank robbery clip is real and there are probably hundreds more along the same lines. I saw a few of them during my training (including flubs of things that happen during training along the same lines).

My thoughts when I saw some of these clips was that this is evidence against Survival of the fittest. But I think that everytime I see somebody narrowly avoid getting run over by a train.
