Three AMAZING fan-made efforts

Some amazing works are being produced by fans. We recently had a gander at the fan-made Hunt for Gollum.

I just stumbled on three other remarkable fan-made efforts. These won't be for all of you, of course... but dude, if you've liked "super-heroes" at all, tell me you don't want to see this movie:

There's material for three movies in that trailer.

But that's not all. Another fan appreciated the work of actor Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Serenity, Angel, Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Castle), and dreamed about how cool a Green Lantern movie might be if he starred. The result (Parental warning: bad word in last scene):

And if you've not seen it, here's one more surprise (watch it before you show your kids):

While it's true that a blade never runs out of ammo, the Batman/AvP video is why I carry a gun...

I saw the Green Lantern clip. I would LOVE to see such a movie but I doubt they would make such a movie. The special effects would have to be out of this world. But hey, if a fan made effort could be done, who knows.

CR,
I understand a Green Lantern film is in the works. I don't know where exactly it is as far as production, but that is the scuttle butt.

Re: Green Lantern video

Mehtinks me detected some elements from actual movies therein. Such as...

Star Wars: Phantom Menace
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Independence Day
The new Star Trek movie
And, perhaps, the voice of Optimus Prime?

And where have I seen the actor that plays the guy that gets the ring? He's a "that guy" (as in, "Hey, it's that guy from..."), but I can't remember where!

PS--A bit of predestination in the mix? "The ring has chosen you..."

@Jeremy: That IS the "Grayson" movie. Checked it out @IMDb.com. It's a 6-minute "short." What you see is all there is. But yeah, I hear ya!

...or read my post, which also answers your question.

Nathan Fillion would be great as Hal Jordan. He's one of the most competent actors out there, and he has the unique ability to act in science fiction and fantasy roles without coming across as hokey or over-the-top.

DJP said...

Has a very genuine quality.

...but he can be a very creepy bad guy (witness BtVS, last season).

Oh, thanks, Fred. I didn't know a Green Lantern film was on the way. Oh, that would be so way cool.

Thanks for letting me see the green lantern video Dan my son had told me about it and I was going to go look for it. Thanks for tracking it down for me.

And I agree the actor would be great as Hal Jordan. Someone should tell DC.

I had see the other two films previously and thought they would be a great film and/or a series. But that is just me.

Just remember that you can't be justified by your fan-made efforts.

Yes... an important point.

The Green Lantern trailer was an impressive mix of film footage overlayed by their own special effects.

I think they could effectively make that movie if they so chose. They can do anything they want if they just spend the money for the effects.

I couldn't believe it when suddenly, out of nowhere the Alien and Predator come in. That was not at all what I was expecting. For the record, I think Predator would have totally won if it was real life (ha!)

They actually ARE making a Green lantern film, just so you know :)

I've seen all of these and they ROCK!!!!

Hunt for Gollum is amazing too.

There's also a Thundercats fan made movie that was nifty.

If you liked the Grayson and Batman: Dead End films, you'd probably like World's Finest. It's another trailer for a film that will never get made by Sandy Collora, who did Batman: Dead End. It has Batman and Superman against Lex Luthor and Two-Face. Quality stuff.

Here's a link (no, I'm not the director, just a fan).

Well, I'm at a disadvantage, since YouTube is blocked at work. Is this completely family-friendly?

Steve Hills said...

I can't think of anything really objectionable. I would say it is more family friendly than either Grayson or Batman: Dead End. No cursing that I can think of, someone gets hit by a Batarang, and there is a chaste kiss, but that's about it. Oh, and Batman and Superman beatin' down bad guys, but you'd kind of expect that. Like Grayson, it looks and feels like a real trailer. There are legal downloads of all three fan films that are much higher quality than YouTube.

(I'm really not plugging for these guys; I just enjoy the fan films).

Finally saw it, and I'll give you that: it's pretty rockin'. Thanks.
