I am trying out this service for comment moderation. And I've upgraded the blog template.

Don't know if I like either one.

For one thing, it's new, and it's a change.....

DJP said...

Well, at least the comments seem a bit more robust. (somehow VcdeChagn became just M though)

DJP said...

Yeah. See, why? Why are you M.

I've complained, and if they can't give some help, I'm bailing.

DJP said...

Oh, good gravy.

VcdeChagn's comments show as mine.

Good grief.

The Hulk converted to Roman Catholicism? Doesn't he realize that won't solve his anger problems?

DJP said...

Maybe that's what is making him so angry.

GAAAHH!!!!!! MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!!!

I know what's happened.

Someone on the inside at the White House, probably the same guy who signed you up for their PR emails, started really reading your blog and turned you into in to that Suspicious Characters list.

Then Rahm Emmanuel showed up at your door.

And now this blog is going to slowly but surely morph into an Obama Haiku site.

Today, Frankenstein. Next week - the O logo.

They just don't know who they're dealing with, do they?

But seriously, I was just working on my blog tonight and thinking that if I was going to invite anyone other than my best friends to read it, I needed to get a real template, instead of the cheesy, faux defualt ones Blogger has.

This one makes me think the one I gots is kinda okay. :)

You must have bailed.

It's late and I'm slow. I just realized what you meant. You are moderating comments AND your blog looks really different. Really different. Don't you miss your mustache man?

DJP said...

Wow. Brutal crowd. I may need to raise your subscription-rates.

Well, I wrote the company and told them I hated this service. It was supposed to be Haloscan (which works so well for Frank)... but Haloscan has been taken over by this other company.

So I dropped the coin, installed it... and suddenly other people's comments are in under my name, and my comments are in as "Guest"....

So they quickly and very nicely replied they'd refund my money, but offered to work with me regardless, to improve their service. I'll correspond, but am leaning no. It helped put me out of sorts for the rest of the evening.

Wow, when I saw that picture, I didn't know what to think.

I miss your moustache guy.

Just promise me you'll stay far away from Disqus. Gack.

My first thought seeing the picture and caption was that you'd accepted a call from a cal-dispy RCC.

Like there is such a thing.

DJP said...

Okay, now, there ARE some things that JUST DON'T mix!

:^D

Dan, this hurts my eyes to read it! You need a lighter background and darker text, especially the links.

I switched my blogs to WordPress because of garbage like this at Blogger.

DJP said...

But... the text is black! It doesn't get darker than black!

GZimmy said...

Oh, yeah, sorry Dan. What I mean is you need more contrast. The background needs to be lighter, and the links need to be darker. The text is fine, but if your background were much darker, you'd need white text.

Did I confuse you more?

threegirldad said...

Well, ok, but is it change I can believe in?

Hmmmm...I guess that question has already been answered. ;-)

Mike Westfall said...

How 'bout black background and bright green text for that retro ADM-3A experience?

GZimmy said...

Hey Dan, it's better now. I'm not really a fan of red on light blue, but at least I can read it without getting a headache now!

DJP said...

Good!

Headaches aren't the kind of pain I'm looking to inflict here.

From a user point of view, it's horrible, Dan.

DJP said...

What's horrible? Nearly everything's back to what it was.

Becky Schell said...

It looks nice, Dan. It is good to see the barbershop guy in the corner again and the lovely banner back at the top. I think change is just a raw subject right now for some reason.

Everyday Mommy designed my blog template at a very reasonable cost. You might check that out. I asked for a "film noir" feel, and that's precisely what she and her husband gave me, right down to the shadows and old typewriter.

DJP said...

Are you dissing my template, pilgrim?

Basically, I just upgraded within Blogger, which gives me some nice additional abilities. I also tried a comment service... and that part didn't go so great.

But I'm happy with things right now. I even expanded the column a bit, so that half the page isn't nothing anymore.

Becky Schell said...

Really tough crowd.

threegirldad said...

Looks perfectly nice to me. I'm glad to see "mustache guy" back in his proper place. ;-)

Solameanie said...

Oh, I like the banner artwork just fine, and the old Smith's Brothers cough guy with the "calvidispie" etc. line. However, I think the plain blue background is a bit bland.

But who am I to offer criticism on art? I've never won awards for my tastes. My blog is basic black and white, and rather sinister looking. Just looking at it lowers the temperature in the room by about 30 degrees.

Lol! Love the picture!
