Another "Donde yo frijole"

(Translated: Where I Bean)

There was some good high-altitude trout fishing:

There were beautiful fall colors:

There was some yummy surf-n-turf, and then some light snowfall:

Any Sasquatch. I understand they migrate this time of year.

There was a lot of discussion of Sasquatch, and particularly of "messing with" same — and even consuming of Jack Link's jerky — but no sightings.

There was bear activity, though. Once again, no sightings. Reportedly a man dispatched an adult, 175-pound bear in our area of activity, with a single pistol shot. Nice shot, but the reporting made it sound unjustified.

Now that's God's country. :) Always fun to hear where people have bean.

Thanks for sharing.

The food looks like it was probably very tasty!

Beautiful.

You mean, you have that in California???

J/K ;0)

Those pictures were taken in the area between Bishop and Mammoth Lakes, California — just about my favorite area in the world. Though I did love Scotland a lot.

And yes, it was tasty!

Wait! Are those golden trout?
Yummy.

Looks like, doesn't it? But no; this lake just produces a beautifully colored Brook trout.

Makes me miss my late uncle (my fishing buddy) even more. He was the one with whom I went fishing in the Arkansas Ozarks twice a year, until leukemia claimed him this past June.

Cherish every moment like that with your kids, Dan. They'll be precious memories down the road.

Did you do "Devil's Post Pile?"
I always was amused by that name.

DJP said...

Nah. Did when I was a kid, didn't impress me that much. I think you have to take a bus to get in now, it's so crowded. But there weren't all that many people. Now is a great time of year to go, except for all the water being so low.

Time was all filled up with other things — my personal tour.

Did you catch all those fish yourself?? My dear husband loves to fish, but I always tease him that in over ten years of marriage he has brought me home only one, very teeny wittle trout to cook. He needs to go where you went, and definitely with you as a guide.

I'll be at the nearest Hilton, with my own private bathroom and comfy bed, thankyouverymuch. :)

DJP said...

Yes, Ma'am, we caught them from a secret location. Though we might well have caught some from non-secret locations as well, given how few people were up there.

Aw, you shouldn't tease poor Phil. These days, most of my fishing is just excellent casting practice. That's why they call it "fishing," and not "catching."

Does PETA know about this?

Is there such a thing as righteous envy?

{sigh}

Does PETA know about this?

Goodness, I hope so!

It was a double-barreled question. Cuz round these here parts, PETA stands for (no, I'm not just now making this up -- we really say it):
