Giving Canadians their due

Our friends from the Great White North have taken their share of ribbing on this site. This video suggests there may be more grit there than first suspected.

Brr-r-r!

Beyond question.

But tough!

I'm not sure what the big deal is.... this is how we spend most of our saturday afternoons.

Is that any more unusual than watching college football or something? :P

Man, we need to invent a sarcasm font.

These people really are crazy. I like the cold and all, but these people are not all there.

I liked the fact that one of the guys is Neil.

I thought I heard water being displaced before the camera showed the hole. I think there's a little less going on there than meets the eye.

But you wouldn't get my toe in that water at all. They are NUTS!

So, you're saying "Oh, they weren't swimming for a long time in those freezing waters under that ice, in trunks - they were just swimming for a little while in those freezing waters under that ice"?

My estimation stands.

Yup, I'm with you on that. Like I said, not even my toe....

It takes me 20 minutes to get fully submerged in an 80* pool on a 90* day. Those fellas are a few bricks short, aren't they?

Tough, and not one "eh" in 1:16!

You see that? Mike even got a sunburn under there!

And they're fishing outside! Here in Minnesota everybody hauls their fishing houses out onto the ice, complete with bunk beds, kitchen, TV, etc.

Yeah, I guess they're tough!

I can't imagine how cold they had to be. The younger one pretty much got out of the water and headed straight for his towel. Brrr....

I think they had another hole just offscreen to the left. You can hear the splashing as they get in the water.

Still...

GET OUT, EH!!!

Just a typical day in the True North, strong and free.

And wacko. :-)

I love our Canadian winter...or at least I love to look at it out the window while I curl up under an afghan and read a good book, sipping a hot drink and eating Christmas cookies.

Do people actually catch fish out of those holes? I mean, seriously, this gives an entirely new meaning to "fishing hole" to me.

I live in Alabama, cut me some slack if people actually fish over holes like this. I live next to the second largest man made lake in the USA, and it never freezes, and people drive boats all over it to catch a bass. I mean, hovering over one hole? This is madness.

Word Verification: Plesto! As in, Plesto, I caught a fish.

This has gotta be a hoax. Did you check Snopes?
