Fast food fantasies vs. realities

Nothing will get me to "turn" on fast food... but these are interesting.

First, one curious soul bought and compared advertised fast food vs. the reality. Check out the results.

Second, a "food make-up artist" explains how she makes those advertised burgers look so darned scrumptious.

Maybe it is because I am such a Philistine rube, but in that first link, I liked the look of the real ones over the faked, advertised ones.

Oooooohhh,

And you did this the very day I skipped breakfast.

You're killing me, Dan.

Om nom nom!!!

Those beautiful burgers are like portals to heaven. By that I mean the slow build up of wonderful artery clogging goodness that will speed us on our way to Jesus.

I tried the link and it said "error, try again later."

I worked at Carl's Jr. for about a year working my way into the management ranks. It's pretty easy to make the food look like it does in the commercials. It's just not edible how it looks. Hot food melts cheese and as soon as you wrap it and throw it into a bag, it's just not going to look the same.

One of these days, if we ever happen to meet in person, I'll have to bring you a Southern fried cocoa pie.

And lo, I will eat it, even unto the crust thereof.

Amen and amen.

Is it just me or did anyone else smell the hamburger while watching and reading these comments? Time for a bedtime snack.

I'm a total fast food hypocrite.
I talk a good talk and walk a pretty decent walk about staying away from it,

except for about two, ahem, hormone-poisoned days a month. When french fries are once again my very bestest friends.

I'm saddened that the Arby's sandwich comes out the worst in the real vs. fake test. Those are some of my favorites (oh, the shame!!)

And am I the only one who thinks that the food-artist lady looks kind Stepford Wife artificial herself??

Good thing I had dinner late and am only reading this post now. You see, I can drive to about 5 or 6 different fast food chains within 4 minutes from where I am right now, and those pictures look very tasty! (Well, maybe not the lopsided, squished Arby melt, but I've had it before and I know it tastes good despite its look!)

(Oh, and the food make-up artist segment is really educational! Who knew that burgers needed to be nipped and tucked and have "dresses" pinned to them before they can make TV appearances??)

If they use Kobe (just in case someone is thinking this, yes, I'm a Laker fan, no I'm not talking about Kobe Bryant)Beef patties they don't have to cheat and use special effects.

It used to be a ritual for Renoites to stop at In and Out Burger in Auburn on the way into the depths of the beast called California. I personally think In and Out is way overrated. Except for their protein burger.

Stepford, nah. But I'm having major flashbacks of the can-of-hairspray-a-week 80s life such that they sold "face shields" to protect your makeup job from all the hairspray... and that is definitely an 80s-style nose job on her. I'd nearly forgotten about those. One had to work very hard to look casual, back then. Kind of like the burger she's making up and dressing up.
