But hey, in dogs and cats? I've learned to love cats, but not all my readers have. So for you doggie-lovers (and, btw, I love a well-trained dog, myself), here's a vid on Border Collies.
(Their embed code may/may not work; so here's the vid.)
Sounds like a great dog if you're outdoors a lot; not so much a house-dog. Hear some owners' comments here.
Finally, I may have linked to this before, but here are some shepherds and their dogs having buckets of fun:

Wow. The Baaaa Studs must be very patient men. Amazing.
If you ever have a chance to watch a herding competition, I think you'll enjoy it. There's one coming up soon (Aug. 21) that appears to be near you.
It's quite something to see these dogs work in person.
Laughing at the name (the Baaa Studs) as well as amazed at what they've done. Sheep aren't exactly known for being cooperative or organized. ahem

I've had many Border Collies. Great dogs, great companions, lots of fun, but definitely not "fireplace" dogs!
Hilarious...my word verification is "wagshi". How appropriate!
We've got a border collie/lab mix that we brought home from the rescue league 5 years ago. Best. Dog. Ever.
Smart, pretty, and very active (she's bringing me her tennis ball right now). It's playtime!
Our neighbor told her she was the luckiest dog on the planet. That's just one of her many nicknames :o)
