Monday music: "Cantes Por Bulerias," Paco Pena

Now we'll move south, stylistically — and I don't mean America's southern states.

Stirring flamenco style playing, from Paco Peña.

Stirring is right!

I'm such a weirdo. I'm watching and all I can think about are how creepy his thumb nail is, and I'm also thinking about how spooky it would be to shake his hand with those big nails.

Maybe I have some sort of man with big fingernail phobia.

Aw yes, glue on the fingernails. Brings back memories that are not pretty. Now when my fingernail breaks, I just let it grow back again.

Nails are preferable on nylons strings, creepy or not.

I enjoyed this and have a new found admiration for the art of clapping. Thanks Dan.

Yep; I have a very good sense of rhythm, but that counterpoint-clapping would be very difficult.

While the guitar playing is impressive, I was more mesmerized by the clapping! And for some strange reason, remembered a comment I heard many years ago from an elderly woman sitting in the pew in front of me after a "worship team" encouraged clapping during the worship service (we were prolly singing "He has made me glad" or some such happy song):

"When I hear clapping, all I hear is a fleshly sound."

Some people just don't get it. I found it amusing though, and love quoting it just for fun.

1. LOL, Merrilee. Fleshly sound, indeed. One can expect no less from sounds that our fleshly palms make. ;)

2. I love the little blurbs that appeared on the video as he played, about Tony Blair's nails and such! Too funny. :)

Yah... that was amazing. The clapping as much as the guitar.

But Dan, uh, not to be too nit-picky, but stylistically or geographically you're moving east. To Spain. Not Central or South America. ;D

Always amazing, it sounds like there's two or three guitars, but it's just one guy. Impressive/

Psh. Homeschoolers.

Ok! Is it just me, or did the guy on the left, in the dark suit look like Prince Charles?

Seriously, though. I could watch and listen to that for hours!

Thanks for posting it, Dan.
