Not at present. I have played guitar (a lot) and drums (less, but enthusiastically). For years my candy-apple red guitar, Roland jazz amp and I were the musical accompaniment in church, with will of whatever self-taught skilz I had. More recently, I had a very fun stretch in the rotation of playing drums in the church we formerly attended.
But I don't play now.

My dad passed on an excellent cd of Bela Fleck doing classical tunes with popular artists like Joshua Bell and John Williams. Excellent listening. It's called 'Perpetual Motion'. Much different than his old 'Fleckstone' days!

Steve Martin should be called an "entertainer" rather than just a "comedian." He is an actor, author, singer, and plays a mean banjo to boot.
IMHO.
I really enjoyed that Dan. It's always fun to see someone like Steve Martin, known for one thing, and doing something else really well.
It's harsh to think of Martin as "old-school," but it once was more the norm for entertainers to be multi-talented, and not just able to do one thing.
Well, I'm late to the party, but...Steve Martin composed that? That was utterly sublime. Exactly my kind of music (and I mean that without an ounce of sarcasm).
Why in the world this West Coast Jewish Christian should like Appalachian folk music so, I do not know...but I do. Thanks again.
And not a single snarky comment about banjos. Amazing!
Truth be told, Mr. Martin also plays a far more entertaining Inspector Clouseau than the late Peter Sellers ever did, as talented as Mr. Sellers was.

I think that banjo is perfect for Martin. I mean, banjo has a "funny" way about it. And, as much as SM is a multi-talented man, he's still mostly known as a funny man. It just fits his persona. I couldn't see him playing viola or saxophone IYKWIM.
