Valerie update #1

First, from Valerie and me both, thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words via comment and email.

Second, Valerie just got home yesterday afternoon, and is doing well, considering. She has three happy and willing servants catering to every caterable whim and guarding her from giant hurtling cats.

Third, please don't stop praying for my dear Valerie.

Fourth, I'm finding that I can't put my mind on writing or finishing serious posts, other than on this subject. I may put up a short HT tomorrow. Thank you for understanding.

Finally, we re-watched The Quiet Man for the whateverth time in the hospital. What a terrific movie. Great example of how to touch on "adult" themes while maintaining a G or (at most) PG level. Not one frame or word further was necessary.

God be thanked that your wife is home safe and sound. I saw the post but couldn't respond due to travel.

When you said "She has three happy and willing servants catering to every caterable whim and guarding her from giant hurtling cats", I have this mental image of good vs. evil ninjas. Your boys are the good ninjas and your cats are the evil ones. The cats keep throwing themselves at your wife while your boys roundhouse kick them away. There's a regroup and counterattack, repeat, etc.

That is all.

Oh, nevermind us and H&T--take good care of Mrs. DJP, please. :)

(And, yes, "The Quiet Man" is such a good movie. Just love the fighting scene toward the end!) :D

Thank you.

Mrs. DJP has informed me that part of my care requires the provision of entertainment... hence, HT. But a little one.

Concerning your comment, "I'm finding that I can't put my mind on writing or finishing serious posts":
Quit trying. Take care of your priorities first. We your loyal and faithful readers understand, and will be waiting for your return.

Thank the Lord your dear wife is home, and also for your helpers. :) The Quiet Man is a favorite of our's too. "That red hair is no lie!" Will keep praying. May she have a quick and full recovery.

So drawing from this statement, it's safe to assume that Mrs. DJP didn't marry you just for your stunning good looks and your solid theology, but because you're so entertaining? (That's what won my heart about my own husband as well.)

Glad to hear she is on the mend.

Thanks for the update. We are concerned.

Very happy to hear that y'all are back home and that Mrs. DJP is protected from the merciless pounces of the giant hurtling cats.

I never saw "The Quiet Man" until I got married. I grew up in the 80's and was deprived of good acting, but my wife (who grew up in the 90's) loves classic movies and has redeemed my taste in entertainment.

Still praying for y'all as Mrs. DJP recovers. 8o)

So glad to hear that Valerie is home and has you boys to look after her. To God be the glory...
Will continue to pray for her full recovery (those abdominal surgeries ain't no fun- had a couple).

Having been surgerized upon a couple of times meself, I can attest to how *good* it is to get home, even when there is plenty of recovering left to do, and how *terrifying* it is to contemplate even a tiny, gently-nudging pet let alone anything giant and hurtling. Keep up the lines of defense as well as the entertainment, and we shall keep on holding Valerie up to the best of healers. Don't let it bother you that my Friday morning will be completely and utterly ruined if you don't do H&T; really, don't let that even cross your mind.

In ALL seriousness, praises to the Lord for His goodness and mercy, and may He continue to bring strength and healing.

Glad to hear that your wife is doing well.

Does anyone know what Barry Fitzgerald mutters under his breath when he sees the broken bed?
"Homeric"? I can never quite make it out.

"Impetuous! Homeric!"

My issue is not our hurtling cat, but the flying fur. Fur, fur everywhere. Ugh. I spit. out. fur.

Please take care and get lots of rest. Don't overdo the mom thing, like get out of bed to take care of the family just cuz you're used to it, like most ladies I know. I hope you have good books to read.

Totally understand, Dan. My mother is gravely ill following a fall and hip fracture and I can hardly make out a grocery list, much less a blog post.

Still praying for you both.

Hallelujah, she is home. And hurray for her three willing servants. Will continue to pray for her rest, comfort, and healing, and for the men of the house - her humble servants :D

Praise God for His tender care,

Julie

Oh my! I've been behind on my google reader this week and missed this. I am glad to hear it was a good outcome. I will pray for quick recover. I have 90-lb yellow dog that would happily take those cats off your hands if that would help : )
