That is cool.

And...the old rocker's gone bald. Or at least sensibly cropped.

Everyone knows I'm a huge Chicago fan; but I've never been a huge Walter Parazaider fan. Walt's on sax, flute, etc. Ian Anderson is one of the reasons I'm unimpressed with Walt.

Anderson shows what can be done with a flute. When Walt gets a solo (flute/sax), as a rule he just doesn't do much with it. He has this thing he likes to do, where he three notes in rapid succession over and over and over again.

When he's playing what Jimmy Pankow's written as part of the song, he's just fine. When he gets to solo? Not so much.

I learned to play Bouree on my wooden recorder after hearing Anderson. Nothing near as amazing as him of course. :)

I thought it was cool that Grace Slick had a wooden recorder on the cover of their first album. I thought I was kinda cool too for having one. Lol.

I read an interview with Anderson some time ago and he related how, when his daughter was learning flute in school (apparently in the early to mid 90s), he actually re-learned to play the flute. He found that the sound was much better defined (I don't know the technical terms) and he was much less exhausted after a performance.

Also kind of nice is the duet he played with the late Tony Snow. (Not as good sound quality as the astronaut clip.)

BTW, folks who weren't much into Jethro Tull way back when, for a variety of reasons, would probably be pleasantly surprised at the music he has made on his solo albums in the last 15 or so years.

That is terrific, Robert! Ah, but you make me miss Tony all over again, not so terrific. Cursed cancer. I actually corresponded a little with Snow. Very nice guy, no surprise there.

No way Metallica is winning the Grammy for best earth-to-space heavy metal performance this year.

That is very cool, but I still have to wonder "And this is what our tax dollars are spent on? Musical duets in space? What happened to mars exploration or moon development?"
