Thanks to a tip from reader April Halstead. As you might anticipate: odd-looking folks, skull imagery... and cellos!

Ah yes, Apocalyptica. I do love them.
Surprising also that the word verification on this post is "cello".
It seems the heavy metal genre lends itself well to classic expression.
This song has been done in symphony elsewhere, as well as Gregorian chant.
If you like Bach or Beethoven, you might like Yngwie Malmsteen. His speed guitar is amazing.

Yep; he has indeed been featured here before.
Ahh...neat. He was a favorite back in my metal days.
Apocalyptica!! Awesomeness.
And while we're in the genre of orchestral power metal, let me humbly submit a couple other favorites of mine:
Nightwish(Try "Ghost Love Score" on youtube or "Sleeping Sun")
Rhapsody of Fire(Try "The Wizard's Last Rhymes"...this band is one of my current favorites, lyrics a bit incomprehensible at times - they're Italian - but all their music is fantasy based and sheer fun. And full of epic guitar and choiral bits).
As you can tell, you've hit a nerve with me.
Ahhhh, certainly an unusual setting for that song.
But, if you'll permit me, I think this song does a slightly better job of capturing the, ummmm, real essence of this band:
Enter Sand Man!
Heavy metal cellos indeed!
I think those chairs match our dinning room table!
