Monday music: Phil Keaggy and the Sweet Comfort Band jammin'

You read it right. I loved the musicianship of The Sweet Comfort Band, and everybody loves Phil Keaggy. Never knew they played together, yet — lookie here:

Keaggy's guitar skills are legendary, but Sweet Comfort's guitarist Randy Thomas is obviously no slouch. Standing on a stage with Keaggy and dropping some jaws of your own with some dandy licks is pretty eloquent.

As a follower of both Phil and SCB, this is a great memory. I was reminded of how effortless Phil's playing always looked, and how great SCB's instrumental work was.

FYI, the tall blond guy, "Paul", who came in at the end was Paul Clark, who toured and recorded often with Phil.

The only bad part was the recording quality...

Yes, right, I meant to mention that Mark. One could wish for a crystal-clear recording. But something's better than nothing in this case, no?

Was thinking, "needs cowbell". Then Paul appeared! Tragically his mic was potted down :(

Very Nice! Thanks for finding this old clip. Fond memories of this era of Christian music.
This was approximately the same time as the Dean of my Bible College told me (regarding my drum set I had put in the Chapel) "Get those tools of the Devil off this Campus". The guy was a big Gothard fan - go figure.
Ten years later the school was promoting two bands. Sigh.
Thanks again

I saw SCB on their farewell tour many, many years ago and was amazed at their talent. Especially their bass player. He did a 5 minute solo that was amazing.
