Hither and thither 3/9/12

Little 'un, and it almost certainly will not be updated.

You know... I never thought of golf as being much fun. But perhaps with a change here and there...

  • Guess I'll find out.
  • Was anyone watching Terra Nova? We tried. It's been cancelled. Too bad. It had an interesting premise, some likable characters, about the only TV family that actually looked anything like each other... but juvenile, insultingly dim-witted writing. This analysis goes a bit too wide, but mentions the real problem in passing: writing. Characters acting wildly out of character, plot-chasms. Stupidity. Comparisons with Lost are silly; its writers made a complex, fascinating myth with interesting people (forget that the ending was a "Huh?"; the ride was fun). Sad. I'd say similarly for Once Upon a Time.
  • In other entertainment news: if you and your honey are looking for a Date Night movie, and it's playing nearby, and you haven't seen it (or want to see it again), Casablanca is to have a one-night engagement in a number of theaters. It's a classic that deserves to be a classic.
  • Oh, dear:
  • Well, did you like that? 'Cause kitty liked it.
  • And finally:

I wonder if that's the same albino alien pig-dog creature I saw last week at the park.

Kitties look so cute when they are Flehmening.

Wife and I liked Terra Nova. Like Land of the Lost with guns and without the miniature Wookie child running around. I am kind of sad to hear it's gone.

I sympathize with the trauma accompanying your gas price increases.

On the other hand, we pay about $4.73, so the sympathy has limits.

out of bed.

Quite a sharp contrast between that mother who risked herself for her children, and the frequent killing of children by their mothers, usually for the sake of convenience.
We universally call the first noble or heroic, proving that we all have some understanding of the law, and ensuring our that our conscience will testify against us. (Rom. 2:14, 15)
That there is no universal condemnation (worse, there is approval) for the second is proof of our depravity.
Praise God for his grace.

On a completely different note, I think I need to forward the cat-lady article to my sister-in-law. She shows the early symptoms of cat-lady-itis.

Hunh. Is this really what it's like to shop in Texas?

When I saw that elsewhere, it was said to be in Israel.

Guess I'll find out

You're hinting. A life change in the works?

I wanted to like Terra Nova, but I just couldn't and I'm not sad to see it cancelled. There is a rumor that Netflix may pick it up for a revival. Once Upon a Time, on the other hand, my wife and I really enjoy. It's a clever premise and, despite it's sometimes soap-opera-y tendencies, is quite fun.

I am really pumped about the Casablanca showing, but what made me really sad are some of the comments at the site the article was on. Bradley Cooper as Rick in a remake!?!? To paraphrase Boromir, "One does not simply remake Casablanca."

pig-dogs. . . isn't that what the french soldiers called King Arthur and his men in "The Holy Grail"?

My wife and I have made deliberate attempt to avoid being "cat people." In fact, we went on a walk last night and our cat followed us almost the entire time. Now if he'll only start barking...

My wife says no, that's not how they shop in Texas, but I don't believe her.

Here's my theory: when the robots come for me, I only have to out run them until their extension cord comes out. And the little helicopter drones from last week? Shotgun.

Actually, like, the thesaurus is like totally dead. Didn't you, like, hear that? Like, so lame.

Is planet Bacon similar to Mercury? That way bacon is produced and cooked at the same time.

Oh my...Chupacabras and cat ladies! Doesn't get better than that!

I've tried putting snarky comments on my 4 morning alarms, but it still hasn't had much effect.

And now, since it is after 11am, we should probably get out of the PJ's and start school. :)

Have a happy Friday!!

Once Upon a Time can be fun, but am dismayed at times by the costumes. The fairy godmother, jellyfish costume with the leaving little to the imagination top part was weird.

You keep hinting at Texas. It sounds like you might move and get that pastor position you have wanted perhaps. I liked living in Texas. I lived in Ft. Worth for a couple of years and had a great job. I explored a lot of Texas when I was there. Ft. Worth reminded me of the central valley at times. If you move there, you will really miss the Sierra range though.

Well, now I know how to avoid becoming a cat lady. That's a load off my mind.

I'd sort of like to see the albino alien pig-dog creature.

This week's pie chart hit a bit too close to home!

1. @ author of the "cats are NOT human" graphic: Tell. That. To. PETA. Please.

2. Now, I don't care if it is oven-baked, fat-free, and high in protein (or other germs)...no furry-legged, bigger-than-my-face arachnids will be allowed at the dinner table! [/"I think I'm gonna hurl..."]

3. But the Fabulous Bacon Boys are welcome to visit any day. :)
