Monday music — Promenade and The Gnome, by Emerson, Lake and Palmer

The progressive-rock band Emerson, Lake and Palmer was a trio of three remarkably talented musicians. In one album, they captured Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Here is their version, live, of two movements. This may or may not be your style, but note how tight they are in their performance.

And of course, sparkly-shiny-clothes-win.

Since the first listen, I find that the "The Gnome" movement is sharply evocative and moody, summoning mental images of some ungainly creatures shambling out.

For comparison, here are "straight" performances of those movements.

Wow. I haven't listened to that in probably 35 years.
