That must be a great feeling. I'm looking forward to this book.

I'm happy you got your copies. I'll be happier when I get MY copy!

Kay said...

My word, what do you need three copies for, you've already read it ;-)

DJP said...

I hope you're happier, Stan; I don't know - I haven't read it yet.

(Not a hard-copy, anyway)

Whoohoo! Congratulations! I have to admit that while I voted for the other cover, I think this one actually works better.

is the picture upside down or is the cover?

:-)

congratulations -- a happy day in the midst of a trying time.

Exactly.

If I'd been cleverer and had more presence of mind, I'd've jumbled them up.

BTW, as far as I know, the book still doesn't ship until August 1.

Wonderful! Now Valerie has something good to read (again) as she recovers. :-)

Josiah grabbed a copy first. But I think he'll share.

That is just simply cool.

The cover is right side up if you're reading the book in Hebrew...or in Australia.

Woo-hoo!

Already ordered our copy. Can't wait till it arrives.

That must be surreal to actually hold a final product in your hands like that! What a thrill! (Someone was a bit heavy-handed in the cropping department on your photo! Could have at least seen the excitement in your eyes! Oh well. I'm sure that's not the point of the photo and all.) We are looking forward to our copy arriving.

(And my verification word is duckwow. Apropos from a native Oregonian.)

DJP said...

I'll be completely candid with you, Merrilee (surprise!!). Just don't tell anyone.

Everyone's saying I must be happy, excited, all that. That makes perfect sense. A normal person would be all those things.

Me, I just am very conscious of the risk Kregel took in publishing a book by an unknown nobody, and my main feeling is trepidation to see what happens. Will they be glad for it? Or will all Kregel employees mark that day as a black square on their calendars, with the words NEVER AGAIN penned in bold red ink? Will everyone who has ever written for a blog find himself/herself blacklisted from reputable publishers?

And will that become known as "The Dan Phillips Effect"?

See, that's the way I think.

Pre-ordered mine from
Amazon. Waiting breathlessly for it to arrive.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, Dan. If THE Johnny Mac himself wrote a good word about it on right on the front cover (not to mention all the other praises from other faithful brothers on the back cover), I don't foresee any black squares on Kregel's calendar any time soon. :)

Man, if I didn't know better, I'd be thinking, "this guy has some issues"!

Wow! Endorsement by JM on the cover! And the bio: "....has four children and around six cats.....

Kregel's got nuthin' to worry about!

Congrats!

....Continuing to lift Valerie, you and your family before His Throne of Grace.

@Dan:

Brother, I'll do my part to make you feel more secure by recommending your book to people at my church who don't read your blog. In fact, I just emailed my Pastor.

Plus, I'll buy your book even though its not on Kindle. So cheer up my man!

Paula Bolyard said...

Well, if they printed three, surely they printed bunches more to make it worth their while, right? I'll be watching my front porch for an Amazon box!

Not to stress you out or anything, but you know the biggest hurdle is clearing "The Big Challies" who is now The Big Cheese in Christian publishing. Once he gives you the thumb's up (which he surely will) you'll be able to start planning your retirement : )

(Oh, and one more thing: For some reason, you [or at least half of you] look like a proud farmer holding up his first crop of the season. The analogy isn't that far off, I don't think.) :)

Thomas Louw said...

Dan. Congrats.
I think the “Dan Phillips effect” will be referred to in positive way.
Amazon does not operate here in South Africa. The two chains of Christian book stores mainly stock Rob Bell and Joel Osteen kind of stuff but, we reformed guys have the Augustine Book room. http://www.augustine.co.za/home.

Maybe you if you feel so inclined let your publisher know about them, and then maybe me and some friends can get our worlds tilted a bit.

Well, my favorite cover didn't get chosen, but I won't hold that against you. Still going to pick one of these up!

DJP said...

Thanks, Thomas - but is that address right? It isn't working.

Robert Holland said...

Left off the "home" and Thomas's address worked fine for me.

Aaron said...

@Thomas Louw. Email me your address and I will send you a couple when they come out.

Mike Westfall said...

Congrats on getting the book actually printed. Now to get them into the stores...

"Looky what I got!"

Is that the entire world's supply?

(insert smiley here)

Paula Bolyard said...

DJP....just remove the /home from the end of the address Robert provided.

Word Verification: nomponie

Jeri Tanner said...

Congrats! Looking forward to reading it.

DJP said...

Ooh, international sales. Thank you!
