Monday music: "Deathly Hallows"-themed parody of Rebecca Black's "Friday"

To "get" this, you have to know the original.

Reader Kirby Johnson pointed this out to me, and it's absolutely wonderful. End-credits alone are hysterical; warning: one brief unpleasant image at the very end.

This is all I'm hoping for today.

I saw this last week before I saw the movie but was waiting to show this to my husband (who has not read the books) until after we saw the movie. Needless to say it was in my head all last Friday.

I come downstairs this morning and this is what he is watching via this post. Looks like I will have this song in my head all day. Oh dear!

Totally cracked up at "Dobby's" death scene. Too funny.

I know — isn't that perfect?

watched this with the kids before heading out on a few errands. They sang "Deathly Hallows, gotta destroy a Horcrux..." all afternoon.

Thanks, EVER so much, Dan. :)

No, really - this is hilarious. Loved it, shared it around, watched it again!!

The credit actually goes to my oldest of four teenagers. Ben found this and said, "Dad, you've GOT to SEE this one." This worked in our house because we'd just spent the previous couple week totally dissing the Rebecca Black's "Friday" video. (I'm pretty sure that video would have been powerful enough to destroy a horcrux.)

The Dobby scene clinched it for me.

At home, whenever someone is having a whiny moment, someone will begin an unsympathetic chorus of "Dobby's dead, Dobby's dead WHY? Dobby's dead, Dobby's dead HOW! Cry Cry Cry Cry.

And the whining usually stops. So maybe it all has some redeeming value, but you have to go a long way to get there.

Have a great week.

The Dobby scene was, in the secular sense, inspired. I'd never have thought to do it that way, but when you see it, you think - "Yes!"
