Oh! those creative geniuses in Hollywood!

Here's the exciting and novel plotline of a planned movie. It's titled "God, the Devil, and Lucy," and goes Something Like This:
The story follows God and the Devil who, tired of eternally fighting for human souls, decide to settle things once and for all by coming down to Earth as mortal men and competing for the love of one woman that they mutually choose.
It is well-known that I don't believe in live prophets today, but I'm going to make a prediction.

She chooses "neither." Gospel of Humanism.

We'll see how I do.

My vote would have been she'll choose someone else entirely. And God will nobly give her up, because he's all sacrificial and gentle like that, and the devil will try to kill the normal man she chooses and there will be a big shoot out at the end.

I realize my scenario is more likely to fall flat than yours...

LOL! I love yours. Maybe an extended martial-arts sequence, sort of a "Crouching Devil, Hidden Deity."

More seriously, it depends, doesn't it? If they go sheer romantic humanist, yours is more probable. If they go mine and more feminist/humanist, she'll "realize" she doesn't need anybody or anything, and just be happy with herself.

(total speculation forthcoming)

No it is going to turn out much, much worse....

God will win the love of the woman but will also have to become mortal, and will turn the universe over to the devil...

However, sentimental, temporal, earthly love will be seen as more important than eternal consequences...it wil be presented as God wins, and/or love is stronger than anything, even if a god who is evil is in control, he can't control free will love...

It is a sly metaphor against the God we serve, as if we can "trump" Him by loving one another...

Their suggested moral - god is love, love is god, and love conquers all...

True moral - the God of the Bible is evil, and if it feels good do it...

(end total speculation)

The deviousness of decepetion and depravity are going to be getting much worse, my dispy friend...

No way. She's going to choose both. She's Canadian, and she is in full support of the re-definition of marriage.

When I first saw the title, all I could think of was Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo.

Kim. Funny, I thought of Lucille Ball first too.

Which would have been a great deal funnier than the real thing, if that doesn't die the death of a thousand re-writes in a backroom in Hollywood someplace (I'm working on that one).

Actually, the first Lucy that came to my mind was Lucy Pevensie.

This is all good -- but Libbie's "there will be a big shoot out at the end" is the one that still has me chuckling.

There aren't enough Daniel's in the meta yet, so I will wade in as well.

Daniel (JP), I do believe you are going to be correct - call it "Daniel's intuition" - but that fits so nicely with Satan's current schtick, it would be almost jarring to see him change his M.O. midstream.

My concern is that if this movie is made, then many evangelical churches influenced by the Wild At Heart "God's a lover and risk-taker" ideas will actually promote this blasphemy.
