Two Blogger-type questions

First, the less pathetic: Blogger is inviting me to Beta. But they warn that there is no turning back! Irreversibles always scare me. Has anyone made the leap? Should I? Why, why not?

Second, the more pathetic: Challies once slammed anyone who used Blogger templates instead of searching Google and using another. Now, Challies evidently isn't able to see anything I write, so it's nothing to me personally; but still, it smarts. I use a template.

Any blog-savvy individual want to walk me through changing, so I can be cooler, like the Big Dogs?

I switched into beta but did not choose to customize my template, which gave me a nice and cozy option of adding labels and still being able to manage my code.
As to taking another template from the net - well, I searched and found some, but am still hesitant - because I sort of like my blue blogger template...
The change to beta is not painful. Beware only of customization. Wait, set up a new blog, a test one, and test those new fancy features (to tell you in secret - I did not like them at all).

Godd luck :)

I've been using Beta for a couple of months now, and I like it a lot - I reckon you should make the leap.

There are lots of templates out there, but most are still geared toward the original blogger. I imagine more beta templates will become available in the coming months.

I am not cooler or a big dog, but I embraced the change! It is more efficient for me. Its really not a spiritual issue.

I've made a switch.

Its much better. Posting is instant, and so is changing the template. No more of the snail pased "publishing..."

The only thing you will have to get used to is having to log onto your google account.

I have dire warnings from someone about it.

I know zero about computers, so maybe that's why I'm having trouble. I changed a week ago to Beta and so far, I've hated every minute of it.

I've used beta for a couple months as well and love it. Pictures upload instantly (virtually). And I got to go back through all my old posts and categorize them (wasn't mandatory; it was my choice). But that meant they got republished, which drove all the bloglines subscribers nuts, or would have, if anybody subscribed to my blog.

I don't care what Challies says about blogger!

I'll second the dire warnings thing but all I am going to say is be really careful Dan. And make sure you have back ups of all the posts you really like.

The Google account thing is a headache.

You ARE one of the big dogs. Don't ever doubt it.

BTW, the world-famous Pyro look is just one of the standard Blogger templates, slightly modified.
