Rathern than posting a bunch of small individual items, I'll use this vehicle to single out articles and essays I think interesting for the day. It will be updated through the day, so keep checking back.
Initial blast:
- It's disheartening to see how the virulent left's mantra regarding Governor Palin survives every barrage of the facts. Here's an accomplished woman of principle, conviction, and firm leadership. But she's conservative, and pro-life. Worst of all, she's devastatingly effective. So the left has to destroy her as stupid, inexperienced, etc. So they "won't see" articles like this, and they won't be swayed by books such as Joe Hilley's new book, Sarah Palin: A New Kind of Leader. Hilley, though he voted for Obama in the primary, reportedly shows Palin to be smart, effective, remarkably adaptive, made a better and more principled constitutional leader by her Biblical principles. Hilley is said to represent Palin as implementing her Christian convictions just as I would advise her to do. Further, "By improvising, adapting and overcoming, she learned to embrace innovation and change," he writes. Add it to the mounting pile of factual evidence exposing the vacuity of the "Palin's under-experienced, so I must vote for the zero-experienced candidate" argument.
- Brilliant (if occasionally opaque) writer and thinker and pastor Doug Wilson says, "I have not voted for a Republican presidential candidate for many, many years, and I continue to remain an independent." Nonetheless, he has finally reluctantly decided he must vote for McCain; and it's because of Rowe, and because of Palin on the ticket. He's right, of course; and, sadly, Wilson's pretty "well-duh"-level conclusion causes some of his deluded commenters' heads to explode. Which is sad about them, but good about him.
- This one could have many titles: "Joe Biden, the gift that keeps on giving"; "I agree with Joe Biden"; "Biden tells truth, Hell freezes over"; "Will America heed Biden's prophetic warning?" Because, however inadvertently, Senator Biden has let some truth slip out of his mouth about his alarmingly unfit #1 running-mate: "Mark my words. It will not be six months [after the inauguration] before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. ...Watch. We're going to have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. ...[Obama is] gonna need your help to use your influence within the community to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."Of course he's right. Obama's unspoken platform is, "I'm a weak leader; our enemies can just wait me out, I'll buckle and run." We already know Obama is often terribly wrong, and stubbornly refuses to admit it and learn from it — as he was wrong about the "surge." Irresponsibly foolish risk to take.
- Read some pointed analysis of this truthy-oops in William Kristol.
- However, Gregory S. McNeal makes the case that this is a faux-gift meant to distract McCain from taxes. Joe the Plumber was resonating and hurting Obama; anybody with a brain on the subject of security is already voting McCain — so this is a too-tempting detour. he says McCain should stay on message about taxes and socialism.
- Biden's remarks also provide us with yet another example of the all-controlling leftward MSM bias — the blinking-eyed, just-born-yesterday denials of our occasional drive-by commenters to the contrary notwithstanding. The sources will surprise you.
Updates:
- Thomas Sowell discusses polls, MSM bias, and the racism emanating from the Obama side. He observes that " it may take more than voter fraud and media spin to put Senator Obama in the White House."
- Mark Steyn jabs another Mr. Pointy into the heart of the "inaccessible Palin" myth.
- Telling troika of comments on Obama/Ayers. (At present there's little commentary on that thread; I can't take responsibility for anything anyone says after this.)

Well, we still have about 2 weeks for Osama to make a video and remind us all about one of the more important stakes in this election.
Let's hope he gets the lead out.
Gov. Palin has again made another good split from McCain and believes we need a federal amendment banning gay marriage. She understands that we cannot leave it up to the states because judges won't let it be up to the states so it should be left up to the people in the amendment process.
Dan,
Isn't it wonderful that Joe Hilley who voted for Obama can testify to the integrity of Sarah Palin?!
I'd go for "cool," at any rate. That was the primary, I think it said. Don't know how he's voting in the general.
It gets him some cred. He's not just a partisan hack. You know, like I am, whenever I say anything nice about M or P or the GOP, or critical of O or B or the DNC.

Keep 'em coming, Dan.
Have you seen this one bro?
The Argument against Obama
Votive Early, Votive Often.
But is it photoshopped?
I wouldn't rule it out as a real picture.
An interesting experiment demonstrating how the polls could very well be wrong.
Hmmm. More "Biblical Christianity" being posted.
Mm. Another troll too "busy" sniping to read a blog's mission-statement.
I guess not reading the blog's purpose was one salient oversight.
ba-dum bum
