This is hysterical: McCain at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner

The more you know about politics and media, the more you'll laugh. McCain has a very deft touch in humor, and — good grief, this is both brutal, and hysterical.

Hope you enjoy a laugh.

(Obama gets a chance here; I ran out of time, couldn't listen [don't get YouTube at my work].)

Yeah, McCain was pretty funny. I hesitantly watched Obama. It's really hard for me to laugh with a person whom, if elected, who so much evil like FOCA. But I looked at it. He definitely wasn't as funny, but he some several funny moments.

McCain was funnier than Obama, but I was hoping that red Catholic dude was going to cracking some jokes about the Pope and his Prada shoes.

I caught only the tail end of McCain's speech and of course I am unable to play what you posted here at work. From the little I witnessed, McCain was both witty and gracious - a combination sadly difficult to come by these days. I am afraid I switched the TV off as Obama stood up. I have developed a sort of automatic "Cato the Elder" reaction to Mr. Obama - "Obama delenda est" - and am simply unable to engage as a reasonable person so I pretend he doesn't exist. Rather like being in denial after contracting a terminal disease I suppose - and about as effectual - but there it is. If you will tolerate a brief aside Dan, I have been following your blog for a couple of months now and I see you have changed very little over the 25+ years since we were neighbors in Emerson Hall -- a very monument to consistency, although I do note with some alarm the (+/-) after "7 dispensations" which might be indicative of a descent toward moral and theological relativism, which of course as a lifelong Episcopalian I am well used to (do not read "used to" as "comfortable with" please).

Speaking of hysterical, it appears that Gov. Palin will be on SNL tomorrow. Um, let's see this will be the first time in, I don't know, 15 years I will watch a whole episode of SNL. I only watch the first 5 minutes or so of the political skits. I thought that Obama supporter, Will Ferrell, did an excellent job of George Bush. I mean, he was just funny.

McCain was waaaaaaaaaaay funnier, hands down. Not only that, but toward the tailend of his roast/speech, Obama gives this quote "God created us for acts of service" and attribute it to Scripture. Um, reference, please. (I think he misquoted it.)

I have seen him terribly misuse Ephesians 2:10. Was that it?

That's probably it, Dan.
