Remarkable Bible study resource page: Precept Austin

Trying to find online resources for a friend, I stumbled upon the P-R-E-C-E-P-T A-U-S-T-I-N web site. That's not a pretty site name. Plus, graphically, it's as retro as my web site (which is saying something).

But yikes! What a goldmine of resources! I think you'll want to bookmark it

There are verse by verse resources across the board for every book of the Bible; Bible dictionaries, maps, and more besides. It's really remarkable what he's found, and what I had no idea is online.

At first it might seem to be overwhelmingly dispensational (which is a good thing), but look closer: the webmaster's cast quite a wide net among Bible-believers. Walvoord and Ice and McGee — and Spurgeon and Gill and Flavel and Waltke. Just a really great clearing-house of free tools.

Enjoy.

Wow!

Thanks for the tip!

Truly amazing technological age we are blessed to be living in, eh?

Acts 17:26: "He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation"

THANK YOU!! I've been looking for 3 years for an online timeline that shows the founding of Egypt coming AFTER the flood. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult!

Very cool site!

While we're talking about Bible study resources, would anyone happen to know of an iPod Bible reader application (preferably free-ish). My son would like something handy for looking up a verse when he doesn't have his Bible with him. He has a regular 30 gb iPod, not a Touch.

correction - he has a 30 gb VIDEO iPod.

Thanks, Dan. I will be using this resource and sharing it with others.

Concerning bookmarking (mentioned, so okay I think), I love the user friendly way of doing that with Chrome. I am always shocked if I grab the tab instead of the star and pull the whole page out. It feels like I have broken something.

you know, a link exchange might be a good thing. I like that site. I found it a while back while taking an inductive Bible study class.

I would guess there are some sites that you know of that we don't that might enlighten us.

Here's a contribution from me:

Thanks, Dan. I did bookmark it.

I briefly read through the section on memorizing Scripture and knew that I've always been lacking in this area. Yet the few verses that I have retained from past memorization (or even just from reading) have certainly been of use to me when I needed them (sometimes least expecting them!). It was good, then, that I was reminded of the benefit of "chewing the [spiritual] cud". Great site--worth recommending. Thanks again!

Not a part of Precept Ministries International but heavy on the style of Inductive Bible Study for those familiar with Kay Arthur/Wayne Barber, etc. The beginning of each book in Commentaries by Verse has linkage to a one week Precept Upon Precept lesson of Precept Ministries International from preceptleader.org(user: pmileader, pswd: inductive ~ not sure if that is shared on Precept Austin so I will as I think you or others might take to the Precept Upon Precept Leader Guides. I have written permission to share.) ~ nice intro freebie.

Many folks searching for Precept Ministries(Kay Arthur) or Inductive Bible Study click Austin like I did and think WOW. When I'd seen Bible Bulletin Board/John MacArthur, Gil, Spurgeon, Joy Ministries devotional based on Kay Arthur's Lord, Teach Us to Pray study(click Discipline Yourself), etc. and the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge along with the vast list of other teachers familiar...and when clicking some of the unfamiliar ~ well, awesome and as you say, remarkable and goldmine. Thought it would have been a site you were already familiar with, am sorry for not asking if you were, and am glad the Lord led you there, too.

Dan,

You pointed me to this site a few weeks back, in response to an e-mailed question, and I bookmarked it then. Great site. Thanks again!

Dan - the guy is actually a retired physician. I wrote him a year or so ago about how much I appreciate the site. It's a labor of love for him.

Well, both certainly show: the labor, and the love.

And as a side note--Bruce (owner of the site) mentioned BSF in his testimony. I just finished my fourth whole year in BSF last week (they take a break during the summer and starts again in September). It can never take the place of church fellowship, but it is neat to study God's Word with other believers (even a few non-believers) outside of one's home church--even internationally (I have a childhood friend who attends BSF in another country!).

His labor is certainly not in vain. A neophyte preacher from the Philippines needs it. Thanks!
