After quickly circling the kitty, I expected the defeated feline to kowtow in surrender. It didn't. So I added a few more dots to squeeze him a tad. Still no surrender. Postmodern cat? Or are they all?
It took me about 4 or 5 times. I thought I had him trapped a couple times and didn't realize he could move diagnolly into a non-adjacent circle. After you circle him in, you continue to trap him until he can't move and the game ends.
And the I decided to waterboard the cat by slowly filling in all the circles while it panicked and jumped back and forth in terror, as it realized it was trapped for good... Bwahahahaa!
Took me several (the PoMo meaning of that is subjective!) times before I realized it'd be easier if I started further away! Ahhhhh, it's good to be reminded how quick I am on the uptake!
I have a question for those who did it in 2nd and 3rd try...how many hours staring at the screen calculating where the next step would be did y'all spend?? :P
Dan, I'm convinced that all the people who achieved success on their second or third try have already played a similar game, like capture the squirrel or dog. Or played too many board games as children. There's a conspiracy... I know it!
Then again, I probably out-thunk the game a tad... we're too smart for our own good! That's what took us so many tries! ;-)
1. Pray at beginning of what was going to be a long, exhausting, day, to not succumb to time-wasting distractions. 2. Read post, and comments, and flee temptation (whilst noting NLB's very logical sounding advice). 3. Run around like crazy kitteh all day. 4. Collapse in front of laptop at end of day with just enough energy left to reread post and comments, and point and click. 5. Remember NLB's approach, and point and click.
Nailed it. First time.
Can now go to sleep, quietly confident in my mental superiority, spiritual self-discipline, and general wonderfulness.
Telling you what dainty elitists won't tell you, and saying it the way they won't say it, since 2004.
You're welcome.

Actually, I will thank you. Thanks for the entertaining distraction. :-)
2nd try.
{yawn}. First try.
I'm learning things about you people.
It's unsettling.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!
Dan,
Don't hate us. Be happy for us. Rejoice with us as we succeed and we will weep with you as you fail - repeatedly apparently.

BTW, the dark circles are arranged differently each time. Some arrangements are easier than others.
Got him! 7th try, if that makes you feel better. :)
played it a few times after I initially won. The placement of the dark circles helps. I can win about every 2 -3 times.
Must have taken me 25 or 30 tries before I was able to outwit the crafty kitty.
Today, I like Mike.
And so far, that's about it.
:^P
And the I decided to waterboard the cat by slowly filling in all the circles while it panicked and jumped back and forth in terror, as it realized it was trapped for good... Bwahahahaa!
Finally. Once.
After about 947 times.
Then again the next time.
Oh, man
THIRD TRY.
Not too bad for a non-gamer.
Julie
I did it on my second try too
Took me several (the PoMo meaning of that is subjective!) times
before I realized it'd be easier if I started further away!
Ahhhhh, it's good to be reminded how quick I am on the uptake!
(yeah, RIGHT!)
%^P
I must confess, however, after finally succeeding, it was definitely disappointing that the cat didn't do something signifying defeat....
;-(
2nd try. Was suprised I normally stink at these things.
Think a large net getting smaller.
Perhaps your cats is owned by a guy named Schrödinger Dan.
i did it on the second try, too!!
Yeah, Carla: whatever.
whattt??? 2nd and 3nd tries...now I feel dumb :'(
Don't feel dumb, Doc. It took me many, many, many, MANY tries.
If that's any consolation.
I have tried 6 times and succeeded thrice so far.
ohh ok what a relief!! :D
I have a question for those who did it in 2nd and 3rd try...how many hours staring at the screen calculating where the next step would be did y'all spend?? :P
There sure are lot of violators of the 9th (or 8th, if you're Lutheran) commandant here.
Cat circled... NEXT!
yessssssssss finally did it!!
5th try. Thanks for the distraction.
Done it a few times, but I think it's just easier to chase the cat away.
LOL. So it's a matter of perspective.
5 tries. Now, I don't even want to look at the real cat.
I'm just presenting dots. I'll let the cat come to its own conclusion.
wow was that a bloody game...yikes!
A lifelong disdain for cats was reinforced on attempt number 7...again at 19...and finally when it mocked me on number 31.
Anyone in the Atlanta area know how to reattach a notebook display that's been ripped from the base?
Can't "see" Trogdor's game from work.
Better not be in bad taste, dude. I'm trusting you. Don't make me come over there.
Fourth try. Or maybe fifth. Phew!
I gave up... Darned cat!
~Squirrel
3rd try. The kitty makes excellent decisions in the short term, but poor decisions over the long term. Very Go-like life metaphor blah blah
Squirrel-
It's probably a bad idea for a squirrel to chase a cat anyway.
I don't think it would end well.
Thank you Leec, the big net works way better that whatever I was doing before...
Now you know why I said kittens think of nothing but evil all day long.

Your welcome. ;)
I'm winning 1 out of every 3 now.
Dan,
I would really like the game a lot better if the cat yowled and screeched and died a dramatic death when I trap him.
I'm with Fred.
Tsk.

Yes, I think you're right.
They're better than we are because we are smarter than they are.
I like it.

Trinian, I was also thinking of the game of Go when I was playing. Haven't succeeded yet, but bigger nets do indeed work better....
Thanks, Dan! (So much for your "thankless" oracle.)
I did it! Walled the kitty in two walls....

Thanks, NLB. And Dan.
:)
It is 3:18 am on June 3rd. The cat is defeated. I have won. (But I guess that fact is now debatable.) My victory pic is here http://twitpic.com/6ivg4
I admit, it took me about six tries.
Well, I cornered the cat first time and with little fuss. Nice to know Counter-insurgency Training actually has a practical application.
Got him on 2nd try.
1st try....
Second try. But the first time, I misunderstood the point--I didn't realize he would jump off into the white area.
But then I lost 4 times before I won again.
Uhhhh, Dan,
My 10 year old caught the kitteh on his SECOND try.
Woo-hoo!
Julie
