Awesomest. Cat. Ever.

"Pal, do yourself a favor: take the bag, and leave. You do not want a piece of this."

Awesome! But why was the woman laughing when the cat was in danger? Maybe it belongs to her neighbor?

Maybe if we understood what the lady was saying, we'd know.

Could be it was just sort of a "Whoa - go, Butch!" laughter. Or she was dippy. Or it was relief. Isn't that a car seat by the van in the last view? Maybe she ran inside for fear of the bear.

Pretty impressive; someone needs to come up with a term for that feline.

Attack-cat and guard-cat don't work very well; fearless-feline is too "cutesy".

Any ideas?

How about ferocious feline?

She said, "Who's cat is that?? It's awesome!!"

Okay, not really. I have no idea. But that would be funny.

Wow amazing, the bear looked scared.I think its great that the japanese have found a use for bears, garbage collectors, obviously the cat was not ready to relinquish the rubbish. Cats once again prove there worth, brave funny and quirky.

Right, Hobo. I would think it would be hard for anyone to watch that tiny cat launch out there after that bear, like a furry RPG, without smiling and thinking, "Go, Kitty." I mean, what's that bear - 10, 20 times the cat's size?

For the record, that's part of what converted me from being a cat-hater to a cat-lover. Bundle of feral kitties we found in our garage, ~20 years ago, so spirited and spunky. Cracked me up, won me over. Over time.

Reminds me of when I lived in Madagascar. The place we were staying in would often have a load of stray dogs wandering all over the place.

One night I was sitting out when I saw one of these dogs running away followed by a smaller, ginger and white flash.

Minette was that cat's name. Which was the worst possible name for this super male cat that guarded the property with such ferocity.

Wasn't there a picture doing the rounds of a bear in a tree with a cat underneath?

Here you go:

The Cat who Scared the Bear

I speak French.
The lady at first was surprised that a bear would approach.

Then the cat goes after the bear and she just said "Go for it Mamenne!" like 4-5 times. And then just laughing about what happened.

Man, québécois French is so weird!

Good story, OK picture - I think the video's more impressive.

Too Jack's owners didn't have an iPhone.

Rhology, I can virtually always recognize French and German... but a lot of what she said actually sounded German to me. Is that the Québécois factor?

Rhology said...

Well, it might be. It just sure sounded like Quebecker to me at the beginning and the "vas-y Mamenne!" thing.
But some accents are so thick that it can be hard to distinguish, so you could well be right.

That didn't even remotely sound like French to me. I thought it was some other European language....
