Ohhh Sam Donaldson. I am totally with your father. Originator of ideology-drivern "gotcha" journalism? A male Helen Thomas, except without the grace and elegance.
I know I'm showing my age when I make this statement, but I was too young to vote for Reagan and too young to care about politics much when he was President. But he was well liked in our home. Seeing that little clip made me wonder: did politicians actually take responsibility for their previous bad choices back in the day? (Sure seems like he just owned up, even if it was also an insult to the 0ther party.) How strange and almost exciting.
I was too young to vote for Reagan, but he actually gave me an interest in politics. Although, since he has left I have felt more and more despondent with each passing election...I am holding out hope that this latest group of elected officials will actually listen to the people.
The difference is that reporters nowadays will run with anything from any source...it is kid of the ends that come from the means that Donaldson used to do his "gotcha" journalism, as Dan calls it. It is what has brought us the TMZ's of the world today.

Telling you what dainty elitists won't tell you, and saying it the way they won't say it, since 2004.
You're welcome.

The quick wit really flies in the face of charges of "Alzheimer's!" (I think).
An encyclopedia entry under "Ronnie Reagan" should read only:
"Sole achievement: having, and trashing, an accomplished and famous father."
Seeing that clip reminds me of how much my father used to mutter at the TV when Sam Donaldson was on.

...not that I have an opinion, mind you.
Sorry Sam, but in the words of my 15 year old son, you just got pwned!

I like that he talked like a normal person, instead of the ponderous, misplaced voice inflections of our current president.

Reagan 'da Man!
Isn't it a sign of the times, though, that Sam (in the totality of his work), when compared to today's liberal lapdog press, seems almost reasonable?
Robert (not me, but the other one!),
