For my Hebrew readers/students

I know nothing about the blog from which I get this (other than that the host is a Hebrew prof who doesn't love Proverbs) (!!), but this is a great chart to help "getting" the Hebrew prepositions:

Hey! I know! Not everything's for everyone, okay? Move along!

"These are not the droids you are looking for."
I am looking, I know I have to know this, I must understand this…but crickets is all I hear.

I can't make a word out of it (well, I could if I really, really tried), but I do love the visuals and the concept, and I totally get the intention behind it.

I wonder what the illustrations for "because/as" and "with" are supposed to mean. I like the rest, but I don't get those two.

Not "because" (which is ki), but simply "as." It shows two similar objects, and says one is as/like the other.

The other shows two different objects, and says the one is with the other.

Well, that would have been useful.

Last year.`

This year, my Hebrew remains simply praising God for all you who can read it and translate it. I've checked that box and will stay happily with my Greek and Latin and other history related languages.

Ahh...

I would say that I've memorized all my Hebrew without looking at vowel points because I have a blatant mistrust for the Masoretes...

But that would be a wretched lie just to cover for my obvious reading error.

And it still wouldn't explain why I couldn't understand the illustration for 'with'.

Hi, Dan. It looks like that Hebrew prof (Christopher Heard, who doesn't like Proverbs) is the one who created the chart (see the really, REALLY fine print in the top right corner). He's a prof at Pepperdine in Malibu.

Well yes, that's right, that's why I link THREE TIMES to him in the post. Give him a little more deserved traffic.
